RUNNING IS A MINDSET

Two runners, a man and a woman, participating in an outdoor trail race through a green forest. The man in front is jumping as he runs, wearing a black tank top, black shorts, and a blue hat. The woman behind him is smiling, wearing a bright green top and black shorts.
Two people dressed as superheroes with large letter 'S' on their chests, jumping and running on a street during daytime. One wears a blue costume with rainbow-colored fringe, and the other wears a red costume with the number 422. Trees and purple flowering trees are in the background.

I didn’t grow up running. I began in June 2016 at age 37, after quitting smoking the month before, following 23 years as a smoker. Since then, I’ve finished 17 marathons, about 15 half-marathons, and many races from 5k to 15k. Like everyone, my race times are relative - what’s fast for me might be slow for someone else, and vice versa. I bring a certain relatability to this sport.
